Communication Theory

Human communication is the process of one person sending a message, out of that person’s inner experiences to another person. The intention of such a process is to give physical, cognitive and/or effective material from the sender to meet a need of the receiver or to stimulate a response from the receiver in order to have a need met in the sender. This interactional giving and receiving may use several modes. The message may be verbal (auditory-written), non verbal (gestures-tones) and behavioral (supporting-menacing).

This module of the Baby Steps program allows clients to develop communication skills which are suitable and appropriate for different audiences. It also teaches what kinds of communication to avoid and to identify when malicious communication techniques are being used against them by others.
